Typical Session #01

What happens when I book a treatment?

At the first appointment, prior to any massage therapy being given, a brief medical history is taken. An assessment is made to identify problems and if any existing conditions will be adversely affected by sports massage therapy. A treatment plan will be fully discussed and agreed. A typical message session lasts 60 minutes and Deborah will use a combination of massage techniques which may include therapies such as Soft Tissue Release, Frictions, Muscle Energy Technique along with general massage and NLP skills. These all produce effective and long lasting results.

Following the treatment session, exercises and stretching techniques may also be advised, particularly when therapy is being given to help the rehabilitation of injuries. Guidance will also be given to help re-balance the body. Occasionally some patients feel some post-treatment soreness. Don't worry about this - it is usually a sign that the treatment is having a positive effect and disappears after a day or so.

How often should I have a massage?

As often as you like, however the treatment plan you agree with Deborah during your first session will usually dictate the frequency and number of sessions required. Some people find that a weekly massage helps to control their stress levels, while others find that a maintenance treatment every few weeks works well. Bear in mind that the primary objective of any treatment plan is to restore you back to health and/or sport performance fitness levels.
